The short version
We run one serviced studio in Upper Hill, Nairobi. It is not a hotel and not a chain. When you send a booking request, a person reads it; when you message on the day of arrival, the same person answers.
We started it because the choice in Upper Hill was a business hotel or a gamble, and neither suited the people who actually come here — someone in for a week of meetings, a family sitting out a course of treatment at the hospital down the road, an engineer on a three-month posting.
What we wanted was somewhere you could close the door on, cook something at midnight, work at a proper desk, and not feel like a guest in a lobby. The apartment is furnished the way we would want to live in it rather than the way a rental photographs, and it is looked after by people who know it.

Who stays here
Mostly people in Upper Hill for a reason: a meeting in the business district, a conference, or a family member being treated at one of the hospitals nearby. It suits a stay of a few nights to a few weeks better than a hotel room does, because there is a kitchen and a desk and nobody knocking at eleven.
Where we are
Altura, in Upper Hill, Nairobi. The ridge south-west of the city centre where most of Kenya’s large banks keep their head offices, and where Nairobi Hospital, Kenyatta National Hospital and the specialist clinics around them sit within walking distance.
That is the whole point of the location: if your reason for coming is in Upper Hill, you never have to think about Nairobi traffic. From the airport it is about eighteen kilometres, straight off the Expressway.
